بدون ترس شانس کمتری برای رسیدن به دوران تکاملی داریم. ترس منطقی به ما می گوید که از چه چیز پرهیز کنیم، به ما کمک می کند که با مشکلات روبرو شویم و ما را در مقابل خطرات حقبقی محافظت می کند.
در طرف دیگر آن نوع ترس هائی که از مقوله ترسهای مرضی است، غیرمنطقی می باشد و آثار فیزیکی و روحی بی شماری را باعث می گردد.
