عدم معرفی پرستاران و دانشجویان پرستاری بعنوان یک پرستار باعث شد که این بررسی انجام گیرد و منظور حفظ و ابقای پرستاران و دانشجویان پرستاری در حرفه پرستاری می باشد تا جامعه کمتر با کمبود کمی و کیفی پرستار مواجه گردد. .
هدف از بررسی، مقایسه نظرات مربوط به حرفه پرستاری و حرفه ایده آل و تعیین شباهت ها و تفاوت های بین مشخصات و معیارهای این دو حرفه و ارائه پیشنهادها بر اساس یافته ها بوده است.
