سر درد شکایت شایعی است که همه ساله حدود چندین میلیون نفر در جهان به علت آن به پزشک مراجعه می کنند. در مورد ماهیت سردرد می توان گفت : سر درد بیش از آنکه خود یک بیماری باشد علامت یک اختلال بوده و می تواند حاصل بسیاری از فرایندهای مختلف بیماری باشد.
