Introduction:‎‏ ‏Adolescence and mental and physical changes due to puberty can influence ‎their functions in several ways. If their difficulties are neglected it can result in personality ‎disorder and put them at risk. Some adolescents decide very quickly and don't have the life ‎skills while confronting problems and in order to escape the problems may decide to commit ‎suicide. They may use various methods and eating poisons is one way. Eating rice tablets is ‎one used methods. Studies show that two-thirds of those who use rice tablets end up dead. ‎There are not comprehensive data available therefore more studies are needed to implement ‎programs to prevent suicidal attempts. ‎

 Aim: The aim of this study was determining socio-demographic characteristic of ad Methods and material:‎‏ ‏This is a descriptive cross-sectional study which assessed the medical ‎charts of all adolescents aging ‎‏12-20‏‎ who attempted suicide with rice tablets during a one year ‎period. In this study, variables such as age, sex, place of living, marital status and … were ‎surveyed. Data were analyzed by appropriate statistical tests using SPSS‏.‏‎ ‎‏ ‏ Results: The findings indicated that about ‎‏216‏‎(‎‏19%‏‎) adolescent who attempted suicide with ‎rice tablet(‎‏53/9%‏‎) died, ‎‏61/8%‏‎ were male, ‎‏50‏‎.‎‏07%‏‎ aged ‎‏15-17‏‎ years, ‎‏62‏‎.‎‏5‏‎ % lived in city ‎and only ‎‏14.3%‏‎ were married. ‎‏62%‏‎ used tablets and the rest used the powder form. Time to ‎reach hospital in ‎‏51%‏‎ of cases was more than one hour. ‎

Conclusion: High mortality after attempting suicide with rice tablet indicates that it is very ‎mortal and since getting to health centers in most cases takes more than one hour emphasizes ‎its mortality. Results of this research show that mortality of suicide with rice tablet is more of ‎half attempted. Male and ‎‏16-18‏‎ years were at risk. Therefore attention to these risk factors ‎could help adolescents.‎
