Introduction: Today, nurses in order to implement successful nursing care need variety of knowledge on techniques of surgery in different operations. By knowing the level of knowledge and practice of nurses, their educational needs can be determined.
Objective: This study aims to determine the educational needs of nurses on medicine use, its indications and optic surgery techniques Methods: This is a descriptive study done on all 33 nurses employed in optic operating rooms in educational hospitals. The data collection instrument included a questionnaire which was filled by nurses and data analyzed by SPSS software.
Results: From the total nurses surveyed, 48.5% had good knowledge and practice and 33.3% had unsatisfactory knowledge and practice and 28.3% had moderate practice.
Conclusion: In attention to results obtained nurses employed in optic operation rooms need knowledge, information and continuing education on medicine, surgery techniques and especially optic surgery techniques.
